Better Hand Drawn Graphics?
I had an thought a couple days ago. Is there a really good way to make hand-drawn motion graphics?
Sure, I've seen things where you see the person's hand draw everything, they look great. But what if you don't want to see the hand?
You could draw a bit, snap a picture, draw a bit more, snap a picture, draw a bit more... But, that takes too long.
There's always the "Animate a stroke to reveal a hand drawn picture in After Effects" technique. But, there's a lot of limitations to that, and to do it right, you would basically have to draw your graphics twice. Once for the actual plate, and once for the mask. Plus, unless you spend A LOT of time drawing masks, you can't get a detailed "Sketching" animation, it just reveals lines all at once.
So I had and idea to use the new Autodesk Sketchbook Express (Free, btw) and AE to make some detailed sketchy graphics, so I thought I would share some tests with you guys. It's still something I want to play around with a bit, but I think it's looking good.
Let me know what you think, I may post a tutorial soon.
